Follow the knowledgeable guides as you explore the history of this remarkable structure. From its design and construction in England to it's building in Africa. Re-live an over 100-year journey in this short 1.5 to 2-hour Shearwater Bridge Tour.

Cecil John Rhodes was an English-born businessman, mining magnate, and politician. The Cape to Cairo railway line was his vision.

The railway company continued construction northwards at a rapid pace without too much regard for the natural obstacles that lay ahead. The Zambezi Gorge presented an enormous challenge and it would have to be overcome if the railway was to continue on towards Cairo.

The Victoria Falls Bridge built between 1904 and 1905 and was designed by Mr. George Hobson of Sir Douglas Fox and Partners to span this gorge.

It was to be positioned so that the spray from Victoria Falls would fall on the carriages as they crossed the bridge, at the insistence of Cecil Rhodes.

On this tour, you will walk the catwalks below the bridge, a location normally closed to tourists. You'll find unique views of the waterfall, Zambezi river, and Batoka Gorge from this vantage point.

Other activities, such as bungee jumping, take place from the platform above you.
